Lockport, IL Dentist Accepts All Major Insurance
Patrick Healy, DDS makes it easy to access the dental care you need
Patrick Healy, DDS takes the time to get to know his patients and provides a number of options to ensure patients can access the vital dental care they need in Lockport, IL. Our dental office is proud to accept all major forms of dental insurance.
Dental insurance allows patients to gain access to ongoing dental care to ensure that their overall health and well-being are maintained. Regular dental check-ups ensure that you catch issues that may become emergencies later. Having dental insurance means you don’t have to choose between going to the dentist and hoping that the pain goes away.
As with any insurance, you may be responsible to cover a portion of the cost of your dental treatments. Some insurance policies require that patients pay a deductible, which simply means that you need to spend so much money on dental treatment before your insurance kicks in. Other insurance companies require you to pay a portion of every treatment, known as a co-payment. In some instances, you will be required to cover the full cost of the treatment, especially if your insurance doesn’t cover procedures, appliances, or emergency dental situations.
Does Patrick Healy, DDS Accept My Insurance?
The easiest way to find out if our dental office accepts your dental insurance is to call our office and speak to our friendly staff. There are generally two types of dental insurance: preferred provider organization (PPO) and health maintenance organizations (HMO). PPO plans allow patients to choose the dentist they want to work with and claims will be approved as expected.
If you have an HMO plan, however, you’ll need to ensure that our dental office is included in that plan so that you can take advantage of the dental services Dr. Healy offers. Patients that are covered by HMOs can still choose to work with a dentist outside of their network, but it usually means higher deductibles or co-pays. If you are not sure, the best course of action is to reach out to your insurance company ahead of time and confirm what is covered and what is not.
Here is a list of some of the insurance providers that we accept:
- Blue Cross Blue Shield
- Sun Life
- United Healthcare
- Dental Premier
- Dental Health Alliance
- Dental Network of America
- Cigna (DPPO or Radius)
- Unicare (PPO 300)
- First Commonwealth
- Met Life (DDP only)
- United Concordia
What Coverage Options Do I Have?
While every dental insurance plan may vary slightly, the majority of them work the same way: routine procedures such as examinations are generally covered, but cosmetic procedures such as veneers or implants are not. It’s important that you understand the benefits and limitations of your insurance plan.
It is the responsibility of every patient to know what is covered. We can provide you with a pre-approved statement in some cases, but not all. Any amount not covered by your insurance is your responsibility. Here are some questions to help you dig deeper into your insurance coverage and understand what potential charges you may face if treatments or procedures are not part of the insurance package:
- Is my insurance accepted by Dr. Healy?
- What portion of my insurance covers exams and routine procedures?
- Does my insurance have limits or caps?
- How much can I spend on dental insurance over the life of my insurance?
- Do I have to wait to gain access to my dental insurance coverage?
- What is my co-pay, if any?
- Do I have a deductible?
- What happens if my insurance doesn’t cover a procedure?
- Is emergency dental work covered?
- Are root canals considered routine?
At the office of Patrick Healy, DDS, we make every effort to ensure that you can take advantage of your insurance coverage, but we may not be able to provide pre-approval to all insurance policies. Before making an appointment, find out if we accept your insurance by calling our office at 815-836-0001.
If you have children who may require braces, find out if the insurance policy covers the cost of that and how much is covered. Some, not all insurance policies will cover the cost of corrective dental work, such as braces. Pre-authorization is often needed for braces because the cost of the treatment is often high.
